For the Dreamers Swimwear | Founder's Story

I was born in a small coastal town in the Philippines and its a beautiful place surrounded by nature and the ocean. A place known for its vibrant biodiversity, with crystal-clear waters perfect for diving and steady cross-onshore winds for kitesurfing. Coconut trees lined the streets, and each morning, I would wake to the sounds of roosters crowing and the soft whisper of the sea breeze. Life was simple, but it was rich with nature’s beauty.

At five, my family moved to Australia, where I grew up navigating life as an immigrant, eventually fueling my love for the ocean through surfing. My travels across Australia, Bali, Nicaragua, Mexico, the U.S., and Europe opened my eyes to the beauty of the world, but also to the growing environmental damage I saw everywhere. I wanted to do something about it but wasn't sure where to start.

The turning point came when my sister gave birth to her daughter, Sayuri. I asked to take them to the beach, but my sister couldn't find something to wear. She wanted to find something that supported her postpartum body. She wanted something fashionable and functional. But weeks went by and excuse after excuse came until finally she said no. No to taking her daughter to her first ocean experience, no to enjoying nature, no to celebrating her unique body that grew a little miracle inside and no to herself.

That broke my heart. So, I designed a swimsuit for her she could feel confident in. A piece that would support her body, be fashionable and help her reconnect with the ocean. Fashion, without environmental guilt.

With no experience in fashion or design, a brand was born from that moment. A brand that would empower women, celebrate all bodies, and create sustainable change. I learnt along the way making expensive and time consuming mistakes and discovered how I could make a positive impact to other women and the world.

This brand is built for the women who’ve shaped my life: my grandmother, my mother, my sister, my niece and my friends. This is for the women who dream and make it happen.
